What sets the price

Five things, starting with the one that matters most.

01Number of zones

This is the biggest factor. Every zone adds a valve, a wire run and a set of heads. Front lawn only? You will land near the low end. Front and back together lands near the high end.

02The shape of the yard

A bigger lawn needs more heads, and an odd shape needs even more. Beds, trees, curves and narrow side strips all need their own coverage, or they dry out first.

03Water pressure

Your pressure decides how many heads can run at once. Lower pressure means the yard gets split into more zones, and more zones cost more.

04Paving to cross

Trenching through lawn goes fast. Getting under a driveway, walk or patio takes boring, and that shows up as its own line on the quote.

05The timer

Each system comes with a Hunter Hydrawise Wi-Fi controller you can run from an app. A yard with many zones needs a larger one, which adds a little.

Included in the price

One number for the full system. No surprise extras at the end.

Coverage planned in person — our crew places every head on your property so nothing is missed
Toro valves and wire, Hunter timer — installed, programmed and shown to you before we go
All digging and boring — under paths and driveways too, if a line needs to cross
Backflow preventer — installed so the system meets code
Tested zone by zone — every head checked and aimed before the truck pulls away
Programmed for your lawn — set for sandy soil and new sod, not the default setting

Sand from the beach to the pines

Atlantic County has two kinds of sandy yards. On Brigantine, Ventnor, Margate and Longport, lots sit on beach sand that takes salt spray and steady ocean wind. Inland, in Hammonton, Mays Landing and Egg Harbor City, homes sit on Pinelands sand that is just as quick to drain. Both let water sink past the shallow roots of a new lawn within minutes. So we mix composted topsoil into every job, and any lawn over about 1,500 square feet gets a sprinkler system as part of the plan.

Putting in sod and sprinklers on the same visit also saves money. The ground is already open, the crew comes once, and the lawn is watered right from its first day. Planning both? See our sod installation prices, or check the towns we cover on the Atlantic County page.

Sprinkler questions

How much is a sprinkler system in Atlantic County?
A typical new home system from us runs $2,850 to $3,950, installed and running. A front-yard-only setup sits near the bottom of that range. Covering the front and back, with more heads and a larger controller, moves you toward the top. We price your system after a look at the property, and the number we write down is the number you pay.
What makes two systems cost different amounts?
Zones come first. Each one needs a valve, a run of wire and its own heads. The shape of the lawn is next. Beds, trees and narrow strips take extra heads so every patch gets wet. Then we look at your water supply, the size of the controller, and any paved spots the pipe has to get under.
Do I have to get sprinklers with new sod?
On a lawn over about 1,500 square feet, yes. A garden hose cannot keep that much fresh sod wet in Atlantic County sand, where water drains away in minutes. Sod that dries out during its first three weeks seldom recovers. So on bigger lawns we install the sod with a sprinkler system, or after we confirm your current one works and reaches the whole lawn.
Can you add sprinklers to a lawn I already have?
Yes. We keep trenches thin so the turf closes back up quickly, and we bore under walks and drives when a line has to cross. If new sod is coming too, doing both together saves money, since the yard is open only once.
Will you look at the system I already have?
Yes. A spring turn-on with a full inspection is $150, and it is free with an estimate through our Lawn Rescue offer. If anything needs fixing, we give you a separate price and do nothing until you say yes.
How long is the crew at my house?
One to two days for most homes. When sod is part of the job, the sprinklers go in first so the new lawn can be watered the day it is laid.
Is there a warranty on the system?
Yes. Every new system has a two year warranty on parts and labor. Heads, valves, the controller, pipe and fittings are all covered. If a part fails or our work caused the problem, we fix it free with no trip charge. The makers of the heads and the timer also back their parts with their own warranties.
