Sod Squad · Atlantic County Division

New sod lawns for
Atlantic County.

We replace lawns. The tired grass comes out, the soil gets rebuilt, and fresh farm-grown sod goes down, most often in one day. We cover the whole county, from Brigantine and Longport to Hammonton and Estell Manor.

One job.
Done all the way.

A lot of crews will lay sod between mowing and leaf jobs. Lawn replacement is the whole thing we do, so every truck, tool and person is set up for it.

Real compost topsoil — aged 12 months, not plain screened fill
Lime goes into every yard — sandy South Jersey ground is acidic and starves grass
Big rolls with no netting — nothing plastic left behind to catch a mower
Cut the morning we lay it — it never sits on a pallet for days
Prices by text — send the address and we measure it, no visit for most yards
Fine for shore houses — you do not have to be home for most installs

How install day goes.

01

Old lawn out

We cut the old grass and roots off down to bare ground and haul it all away. No spraying, no laying new over dead.

02

Soil built back up

Composted topsoil goes down in layers. We grade it smooth and work in lime and starter fertilizer.

03

Sod laid and rolled

Grass cut at our farm in Tabernacle that morning, laid with tight staggered seams, then pressed flat with a 300 lb roller.

The lawn and the water.

New sod lives or dies on what is under it and how it gets watered.

What Atlantic County asks us.

What does new sod cost in Atlantic County?
Most installs land between $2.00 and $5.00 a square foot. Our standard rate for an average yard is $2.85. Big, open lots can price lower. Rocks or gravel that must come out first push it up. That one number covers tear-out, compost topsoil, lime, starter fertilizer, the sod itself and 30 days of aftercare. The smallest job we take is $2,000.
Is the work different on the islands and in the Pinelands?
The steps are the same, but the reason is the same too: sand. Brigantine, Ventnor and Margate sit on beach sand and fill. Hammonton, Mays Landing and Weymouth sit on Pinelands sand. Both let water and food run right through. So every yard gets composted topsoil and lime before the grass goes on.
How long does the job take?
One day for most lawns. We pull the old grass, build the soil and lay the sod in a single visit. Send us your address and we can usually price it from satellite the same day.
Can you do the work if I live out of town?
Yes. Most sod jobs do not need you here, which helps with shore houses and rentals. A new sprinkler system is the one exception. We need someone to let us in to tie into the water line inside.
Will my yard need sprinklers?
Once a new lawn is bigger than about 1,500 square feet, yes. Nobody can hand-water that much fresh sod through a South Jersey summer. We put in zoned Toro systems with a Hunter Hydrawise Wi-Fi timer you control from your phone.
