What does sod installation cost in Atlantic County, NJ?

Most installs run $2.00 to $5.00 per square foot. Our standard rate is $2.85 for an average yard. Large, open properties come in lower, and rocks or gravel to remove push it higher. At $2.85, a 1,500 sq ft yard comes to about $4,275. Our project minimum is $2,000.

Can you seed the yard instead?

No. We only install sod. Our grass spends 9 months growing on the farm, so you get a full lawn the same day. Seed scattered on dry Pinelands or island sand can take all season and may never fill in.

What kind of grass is it?

A tall fescue blend from our farm in Tabernacle. It sends roots deep, takes the summer heat and grows well in sandy South Jersey ground. The rolls are big and net-free, and we cut them for your job instead of leaving them stacked on pallets.

Will I need sprinklers for new sod?

For lawns bigger than about 1,500 sq ft, we say yes. A hose cannot keep up with that much fresh grass. We install systems too, most often $2,850 to $3,950 depending on the zones. Already have one? We check it for free during your estimate.

Can I just buy sod delivered?

Yes. Delivered sod runs about $0.55 to $0.80 a square foot. One pallet covers roughly 500 sq ft. There is a $250 delivery minimum, and we do not offer pickups.

When can we walk on it?

Stay off it for the first 2 to 3 weeks while roots take hold. We come back for the first cut and a second feeding once it is ready. We walk you through all of it.

How much is the deposit?

A deposit of 30% locks in your install date. It comes off your final balance.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry full insurance, including workers’ comp and liability. Just ask and we will send you a certificate.

When is install season?

Spring through mid October. Our schedule books up week by week in season. Your written quote is held for 30 days, so you have time to decide.
